Scott Eaton and Scott Pettus shot a net 61 (11-under-par) to win the inaugural Dion Williams Memorial Golf Tournament at Indian Oaks.They won by three shots.

You just hit what you thought was a good shot and it comes up a little short and lands in the bunker. When you get to your ball you find it buried in the sand.

Don’t panic — the shot is not as tough as you think.

I know that most amateur golfers would prefer to be in the rough than in the sand, but it is just the opposite for the professional golfer.

The other day I was asked by someone golfing at Cane Creek, why is it when I warm up on the range I hit the ball great, but when I get to the course I can’t repeat what I did on the range? The answer to his question was very simple, it is all in your head!

Just because it is cold outside does not mean you can’t play golf. When I lived in Vermont and Pennsylvania we played golf year round. We even played in snowstorms!

The cold weather does change the way you play and also makes scoring more difficult; so you have to play with a different mindset, and you must keep it fun.
