JACKSONVILLE – At the end of Monday night’s game between the Orange Mashburns and Navy Stricklins the score was tied at three.

Since the teams are part of Jacksonville PARD’s 11U league, however, the game didn’t end in a tie.

It went into a shootout.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, The Anniston Wave, a 12 and Under Anniston Parks & Recreation girls soccer team, faced off against the Pell City Panthers.

The Wave dominated the field, winning the game 9-1.

Krista and Tom Young had an ulterior motive when they joined the White Plains Youth Athletic Organization.

The Oxford Jackets shut out the Jacksonville Eagles 4-0 May 6 in a defensive struggle at the McClellan soccer fields.

A 12 & Under soccer team from Sand Rock recently won the AYSO State Championship for the second year in a row. The tournament was held in Cullman. The Wolfpack defeated two teams on Saturday by a score of 3-0 in each game. On Sunday, they won 1-0 in the finals.

The 13 & Under Oxford Black soccer team placed 4th overall at the state tournament in Dothan Nov. 12-13.

The Cleburne County Top Soccer league is in its second year of play. Under the guidance of Cassie Shelton and Leslie Salter, children with disabilities are once again having fun playing soccer and being a part of a team.

Jacksonville made it a clean sweep, with all three teams — 13 and Under, 11 and Under and 9 and Under All-Stars — all advancing to the state tournament in Dothan.
