The top-seeded Mr. Sushi team of Ernesto Kawamoto and David Landry gobbled up its competition to claim the $402 first prize in the inaugural Alabama Teams Championships in Anniston on May 20.

The first annual NEATT Traveling Trophy Tournament, hosted by Northeast Alabama Table Tennis Club, was a big success.

The tournament was held Feb. 18, at the Anniston Army Depot Gym and was a double-elimination “non-sanctioned” tournament. A total of 48 players participated from Georgia, Florida, Germany and Alabama.

Ping-pong is just a recreational sport, usually played in your grandmother’s basement, and does not include a lot of rules. Most rules are usually just made up. As for table tennis, it requires a lot more skill, concentration and technique.
