A way to become a better baseball player!
TENNIS ANYONE?
I remember to this day watching the 1985 World Series with Kansas City and St. Louis.
Being left-handed, my favorite player immediately was Danny Jackson.
Jackson holds the current record for 20+ wins in a season for a left-hander for my favorite team, the Cincinnati Reds, which he accomplished in 1988.
Living in Pennsylvania at the time, where there could be snow on the ground eight months out of the year, I set up a wooden pallet and threw tennis balls for hours.
It did help on accuracy but I DO NOT advise throwing tennis balls and here is why:
Tennis balls are lighter than a baseball, so you train your arm to throw an object that weighs whatever a tennis ball weighs.
It can cause the finer muscles in the rotator cuff to become trained to throw only that size object, which will make you throw a baseball slower.
TUBE TIME
A different tool is the television. Watch as much baseball as you can! It is fine to “copy” your favorite player or players.
Use your VCR or TIVO. Record and play back in slow motion. It worked my pitching delivery. My favorites tapes were of Glavine, Neagle, Jackson and other lefties.
