Fingers to the mitt

We all already know how important good balance is in pitching. Another important part of throwing strikes is “putting your fingers in the mitt.” This means that the pitcher should always get full extension on their pitches (no matter the type of pitch).

A good follow-through should put the fingers toward the catcher’s mitt. If the fingers are headed toward the mitt, then the final stage of the follow-through should take place with the shoulder going toward or “into” the mitt.

Please note that I do not not mean “fingers or shoulder in the mitt” literally. This is just meaning that it is what the pitcher should try to do on every pitch from the mound.
