Score! makes a move ...

When Score! began its journey in Oct. 2005, I knew it was a great print publication for the community. I also knew that it was ambitious to start a weekly tabloid devoted to youth and adult sports.

Some of my friends laughed when I shared my new career just a month before our first issue.

You see, I am not a typical “newspaper woman.” Although I have been a freelance writer for The Alabama Baptist and Baptist Press, I paid my dues in the ditches of Calhoun County as a church social worker, a United Way volunteer and board member to various area not-for-profit organizations.

More than anything, I am a mom to two wonderful and rambunctious boys.

To me, Score! is more than just schedules, results and photos. Score! is about our community, our families and the way we spend our leisure time. It is the reason I came to work for The Anniston Star.

On June 2, Score! had a small presence on the Community page in The Anniston Star and we failed you by not preparing you in advance for the changes in Score! this summer.

Continuing through the summer the print version of Score! will appear on the Community page every Friday in The Anniston Star and we plan to resume publication of the Score! tabloid this fall.

The Web site is thriving and will continue to be updated with information you send in to me.

I still need your information on All-Stars, upcoming events, registrations, tournaments and photos.

As you enjoy your break from the usual routine of school this summer, make sure to use the forum on Score! online to chat about what is going on in our community!
