Sand Rock Wolfpack wins back-to-back soccer state championships

SAND ROCK — A 12 & Under soccer team from Sand Rock recently won the AYSO State Championship for the second year in a row. The tournament was held in Cullman. The Wolfpack defeated two teams on Saturday by a score of 3-0 in each game. On Sunday, they won 1-0 in the finals.

The week before, the Wolfpack captured its fourth straight Area Championship by winning the 5C tournament in Madison. In this tournament, they defeated two teams from Madison by a score of 8-0 in each game. Also, it won 7-0 over a team from Hazel Green. In the finals, the Wolfpack beat Colllinsville 4-1.

The team finished the season with a record of 26-1. The Wolfpack consists of the following members: Byron Agan, Bryant Beard, Skylar Blankenship, Daniel Francis, Tyler Garmany, Chase Lancaster, Austin Lee, Doug Mackey, Drew Norris, Riley Norris, Dylan Shortnacy, Sean Stansell, Christopher Terrell, Chad Thompson and Sean Wylie.

Eddy Norris was the head coach. Joey Beard, Brandon Garmany and McConnell Murphy were his assistants.
