Tracy Christen, current president of the Northeastern Alabama Tennis Association and captain of numerous local teams, is constantly recruiting new tennis players, experienced and novice.

“We’ve gone from a couple teams in Jacksonville just three years ago to full teams at six different levels that involve Anniston, Gadsden, Jacksonville, Oxford and Sylacauga,” she said. A summer children’s program kicked off the summer before last as well, she told Score!

Christen’s Summer Combo tennis team, 6.5 level, advanced to and participated in the State Championships held in Gulf Shores, Nov. 10-13.

“I couldn’t have been more proud of my team, Anniston Country Club Volley Girls 6.5, she said” The team finished 2nd in their division, missing going to the Semi-Final by just one match, and only losing to one team in the Championship, which was the team that ultimately won the entire State Championship.

There were a total of 15 teams in the 6.5 level from all over Alabama, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Mobile, Dothan and Shoals.
