On Saturday, Sept. 9, The Anniston Wave, a 12 and Under Anniston Parks & Recreation girls soccer team, faced off against the Pell City Panthers.
The Wave dominated the field, winning the game 9-1.
“They scored on us first, within the first few minutes of the game,” said Wayne Green, head coach of the Wave.
The Anniston team came back strong and goalie Kala Coger didn’t let another Pell City ball past her the rest of the game.
Co-captain for the game, Haila Clark, along with Samantha Kerper, Jordan Spiering and Jordan Terry made the nine goals for the Wave.
The team consists of girls from all over Calhoun County, so Green was pleased with the cohesive team.
“They played great together,” he said. “I was really surprised.”
When the team was short a player, it was not difficult to find a guest player. Kristin Rothwell, who plays on the Anniston 10 and Under team, joined the older girls for the game.
